OUR demands more details on islandwide power blackout

2012-08-08 10:06:17 | (0 Comments)

The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has requested further information from the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) as it probes Sunday’s islandwide blackout.

The OUR says it received a preliminary report from the JPS yesterday.

It says that report indicated that there was a system disturbance in the vicinity of the company’s Duhaney substation and the problem cascaded to the rest of the island.

But the OUR has requested additional information from the JPS which it says will help to determine the cause of the outage as well as the integrity and security of the system.

The regulator also says the additional information will help in determining what regulatory interventions may be required.

JPS has been given until Friday to furnish the OUR with the information.
