20-year police veteran arrested for drug possession

A policeman was arrested at the Spanish Town police station today on suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

The constable who has served over 20 years in the force was on the station compound.

He was held at the lock-ups about 11:15 a.m. where he is assigned.

The Gleaner learnt that the officer was on his way to his post when he was searched.

During the search an illegal substance was found in his possession.

A further search of his vehicle revealed a quantity of the drug.

His superiors have escorted him to his home to conduct a further search.

Sources at he station told The Gleaner the police constable had being under surveillance for some time.
