The Ministry of Youth and Culture says it is working on finding a permanent solution to the issue of children being held in police lock-ups with adults.
Advocacy groups, Jamaicans for Justice and Help JA Children say itís a contravention of the Child Care and Protection Act for children to be held with adults.
They are calling for the children to be removed from adult remand centres.
In an emailed response to the issue, the Youth Ministry said the situation is receiving its attention.
It said that the Child Development Agency is also being engaged and discussions have been held with the Ministries of National Security and Justice.
The Ministry said it is hoping that they can come up with a lasting solution which they can then take to Cabinet for approval.
