Cops on alert for back to school

2012-08-31 11:09:01 | (0 Comments)

Police Commissioner Owen Ellington has put all police personnel on alert in anticipation of the increased back-to school shopping activities expected this weekend.

In this week’s Force Orders, Commissioner Ellington noted that thousands of Jamaicans will converge on the main shopping districts to purchase supplies as they prepare for the resumption of schools.

He said the Force has already issued through the media back-to-school shopping security tips.

However, he said the task this weekend will now be to ensure that there’s strong police presence in all areas to maintain law and order, to prevent crimes and to provide assistance to shoppers.

Commissioner Ellington said Divisional Commanders in the 19 geographic divisions must ensure that deployments of foot and motorized patrols are in keeping with the expected commercial activities.
