More websites raising red flags in cyber crime probe

2012-09-01 11:14:15 | (0 Comments)

A number of websites have now popped up on the radar of Jamaican cyber crime investigators.

This disclosure was made yesterday by acting head of the Organised Crime Investigation Division Senior Superintendent Clifford Chambers.

It came after the police filed criminal charges against a man they described as the main player in a computer hacking scheme that targeted persons with sexually explicit photos loaded on to personal electronic devices.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ronald Oates was arrested at his home on Monday following months of surveillance and intelligence-gathering by detectives.

The police believe some of the websites they are now monitoring are may also be linked to Oates.
