Health Minister Dr Fenton Ferguson says Dr Barrington Dixon was a stalwart of the medical profession who served with unstinting distinction.

Dr Dixon, who served as Senior Medical Officer at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, in St James, for more than 20 years, was shot by unknown assailants during an early morning attack at his home in Spring Gardens, St James.

He was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where doctors tried to save his life, but he succumbed to his injuries hours later.

In a statement released today, Dr Ferguson said Jamaica is the poorer for Dr Dixon’s passing and urged the police to leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice.
