Pregnant woman shot dead in police confrontation, another injured

2012-09-01 18:56:42 | (0 Comments)

A 25-year-old pregnant woman has been killed and another female injured following a shooting incident involving a policeman in Yallahs, St Thomas, this afternoon.

Assistant Commissioner Wray Palmer, who is in charge of the Area Five Police which includes St Thomas, told The Gleaner a short while ago that he was aware of an incident, but said it was too early to comment.

Reports say angry residents have used debris to block the road in the vicinity of the Yallahs Police Station.

A strong police presence has been deployed to the area.

Residents claim, the two women were shot during a scuffle which broke out after a policeman attempted to prosecute one of them for using indecent language.
