JDIP report to be ready this week
2012-09-03 08:26:26 | (0 Comments)
Auditors probing the controversial Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP) are to provide their final report to the Ministry of Transport this week.
The draft report was presented two Fridays ago.
The final report was expected to have been handed over to the ministry last Friday but that deadline was further extended to this week.
The JDIP audit is being carried out by the firm Kroll Consulting at a cost of $16 million.
The audit was ordered by former Prime Minister Andrew Holness, after the Auditor General uncovered irregularities and discrepancies in the execution of JDIP, as well as the Palisadoes Shoreline Protection and Rehabilitation Programme.
In addition to the JDIP, the auditors are also probing the Palisadoes programme.
They are to determine, among other things, if there were any fraudulent transactions involved in the execution of the JDIP and the Palisadoes Shoreline Project.
The auditors have also been asked to make recommendations on ways to improve the quality of the performance-monitoring capabilities of the programmes.
