NewsClarendon man on charges of breaching Proceeds of Crime Act gets bail2012-09-04 18:12:10 | (0 Comments)
A Clarendon man who is on charges of breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act was today granted bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
Dave Anthony Johns, a 45-year-old contractor, was arrested on Saturday after arriving at the Norman Manley International Airport on a Caribbean Airlines flight from St. Maarten. He was arrested after his luggage was searched by members of the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division based at the airport, and cash amounting to €57,000, US$22,205 and J$8,500 found hidden in secret compartments of a suitcase he was carrying. Johns has since been charged with breaches of section 101 of the Proceeds of Crime Act. In court today, he pleaded not guilty and was offered bail with restricted conditions.
