BusinessiPads for legislators2012-09-05 10:28:31 | (0 Comments)
First it was computers for first year secondary school students.
Now, legislators IN Trinidad & Tobago will be provided with iPads “so they can work, receive their documents electronically,” said House Speaker Wade Mark. Mark told reporters that the 73 legislators would receive the electronic device “within weeks” without indicating the costs to the state. “There is no price (too high) to pay for democracy ... democracy is priceless and we are committed to strengthening the Parliament by building and strengthening our democracy. That is a matter that cannot be compromised,” he said. Mark did not say which company would be providing the iPads but told reporters the entire purchase would be transparent and above board. “As soon as these iPads are acquired the cost (will be) known and made available to members of the media,” he said, indicating that he hoped the new device would be in the hands of the lawmakers received before the budget is presented. “We are looking to secure those devices before the end of October,” the Speaker said.
