NewsPsychological services for JCF2012-09-05 17:55:01 | (0 Comments) This Cabinet decision follows Saturday’s fatal shooting in St. Thomas of 27-year-old Kay-Ann Lamont who was 8 months pregnant at the time of her death. Police corporal, Dwayne Smart has been charged with murder, wounding with intent, assault and illegal possession of firearm in connection with the incident. Prior to Smart being charged, the head of operations for the St Thomas police, Deputy Superintendent Patrick Bennett, had said the corporal was on suicide watch. Bennett said the officer was in shock since the incident. A release from the Ministry said the Cabinet was briefed on the issue yesterday by security Minister, Peter Bunting. The Ministry said it deeply regrets Saturday’s incident stating that police fatal shootings must be reduced to a minimum. The statement said the Ministry and the government are committed to having all agents of the state demonstrate respect for the human rights of citizens. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
