Contractors seek government intervention

2012-09-06 10:47:51 | with audio | (0 Comments)

The Jamaica Association of Contractors Construction and Consultants (JACCC) is calling for the government to intervene, to have some of its members put back on the list of approved government contractors.

Several contractors have been withdrawn from the National Contracts Commission’s Works Contractor Application Process, following the alleged discovery of irregularities.

Contractors said they have been facing hardship, as they are now unable to bid for government contracts while the re-registration process takes place.

The contractors’ association has been trying to meet with the head of the National Contracts Commission, Raymond McIntyre.

However, it said up to last night no date has been set for a meeting.

The association’s chairman Percival LaTouche said members will be holding a press conference today to discuss the matter.

The press conference is to be held at the Medallion Hall Hotel.
