Jamaica’s Alphanso Cunningham missed out on a second medal at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, after finishing fourth in the men’s F51/52/53 discus throw today.

Cunningham had won the gold medal in the F52/53 javelin on Tuesday, Jamaica’s only medal so far.

Cunningham logged a season-best throw of 24.68 metres on his final attempt for 835 points for his fourth place in the discus today.

The 32-year-old Cunningham finished 82 points behind bronze medal winner Mohamed Zemzemi of Tunisia. Zemzemi threw a personal-best 11.34 metres for third place.

Mohamed Berrahal of Algeria won the gold medal with a world record throw of 12.37 metres for 1093 points.

The silver medal went to Aigars Apinis of Latvia who threw 21 metres for 1010 points, also a world record.

Jamaica’s campaign at the Games will end later this afternoon, when Sylvia Grant competes in the women’s F57/58 Javelin Throw final. That final starts at 1 p.m.
