National Security Minister Peter Bunting has indicated that steps are being taken to address the flare up of violence in St. James.

In recent weeks, murders have been on the rise in sections of the parish.

Yesterday, four more persons, including two pregnant women, were shot fatally in St. James.

This followed two separate triple murders in the parish.

The spate of killings has left many in fear with increasing calls for urgent action to stem the violence.

And, speaking on Nationwide Radio last evening, the national security minister said he’s concerned about the increase in crime in St. James and has already started to take action.

Police investigators say preliminary information suggests yesterday’s killings were carried out by gang members involved in the lottery scam.
