WESTERN BUREAU:
The police have identified the man who was shot dead at a funeral in Montego Bay, St James this afternoon as 23-year-old Demar Brown of Paradise, Norwood.

Brown was attacked after he was called from the King's Chapel Church where he was attending the funeral of his best friend.

Information suggests that Brown was advised against attending the funeral for his friend, who was killed in Norwood some time ago.

Brown had left St James to Kingston following that incident.

It is reported that this afternoon, Brown received a telephone call during the funeral and he exited the church.

Shortly after, explosions were heard and Brown ran back inside with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
