NewsParenting policy to be debated in Parliament2012-09-09 11:56:20 | (0 Comments)
Education minister Ronald Thwaites says he will be presenting the National Parenting Policy for debate in Parliament when it re-convenes on Tuesday.
The policy, which was developed by the previous administration, was tabled in Parliament last year, but was not debated. While acknowledging that laws do not change human behaviour, Thwaites says he is hoping that a parenting commission can be established to set standards and help parents become more responsible with their children through the policy. He says the vision of the policy is for all parents in Jamaica to recognize, accept, and discharge their duties to ensure that the rights of children are always upheld.
