New plan to ease congestion in Mandeville unveiled

There is a new plan to ease congestion in the town of Mandeville, Manchester.

The National Works Agency has announced that the plan will involve the transformation of the Mandeville Park roundabout into a crescent and Manchester Road into a two way street, with an unbroken side walk for pedestrians.

Speaking on Thursday at a meeting of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce Michael Sanderson, director of traffic operations at the National Works Agency, said congestion in Mandeville has increased by 20 per cent over the last 10 years.

He explained that based on a study of the situation in the parish capital, the cause of the problem is a lack of east to west roads, noting that the town only has roads leading from north to south. He said this has caused congestion in the town centre.

Sanderson says the traffic proposal is to be submitted to parliament soon.
