UK VOICE: Jamaican Raheem Sterling joins English squad

Jamaican Raheem Sterling is among three youngsters who have been called up to the England squad following more withdrawals.

There are rumours that the English Football Association is keen for Sterling to get his first cap, as he is also eligible to appear for Jamaica.

Jamaica's head coach Theodore Whitmore had said that he and the Jamaica Football Federation have been in touch with Sterling and have invited the forward to the programme.

Sterling was born in Kingston, before his family moved to England when he was five years old.

The Liverpool youngster joins Tottenham Hotspur’s Jake Livermore and Adam Lallana of Southampton, in being selected to join Roy Hodgson’s men prior to their game against Ukraine tomorrow (September 11).

This follows the news that Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge missed training through illness.

Walcott has returned to illness while the Chelsea forward is expected to be available for the World Cup qualifier.

England beat Moldova 5-0 in their first qualifying game on September 7.
