Water disruption for sections of St. James

The National Water Commission (NWC) is advising customers, who are served by the Fairfield Deepwell in St. James that they will experience a disruption in their water supply today.

The period of disruption will be between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The NWC said the lock-off will facilitate urgent repairs to a broken 10-inch pipe line on the Fairfield main road.

Areas to be affected are Fairfield, Tucker Irwin, Irwin South, Granville and sections of Pitfour.

Meanwhile, the NWC said it is trucking water to the Redwood area of St. Catherine which is being affected by water disruptions.

The NWC said the pump at the Bershire Hall Treatment Plant, which supplies the area, is now out of service following continued mechanical problems.

It said a new pump has been ordered and should take four to five weeks to arrive in the island and to be installed.

The NWC said this will result in further delays in the restoration of regular water supply to the Redwood area.

However, it said water will be trucked to the affected persons in the interim.
