Joel Andem’s brother recaptured

2012-09-12 08:57:35 | (0 Comments)

The police say they have recaptured the brother of the former leader of the notorious Gideon Warriors gang, who was on the run for six years.

They say Christopher Andem was recaptured on Friday in Mud Town in Papine, St. Andrew during a joint Police/Military operation.

The police report that Andem initially gave his name as Joseph Thorpe, otherwise called ‘Justin’.

However, they say further checks confirmed he was Christopher Andem.

Andem had been on the run since June 2006.

At the time of his escape, he was awaiting trial for the murder of 48-year-old farmer Panton Campbell, of Campbell Land district in Cave Valley, St. Ann.

Campbell was killed on June 25, 2005.

Christopher Andem is the brother of Joel Andem, the former leader of the Gideon Warriors gang.

Joel Andem is currently serving 20 years in prison for shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm.
