NewsNDM supports Crawford’s decision to use CDF for education2012-09-13 13:29:57 | (0 Comments)
The National Democratic Movement (NDM) says it supports the move by parliamentarian Damion Crawford, to use his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation on Education.
The first time Member of Parliament for East Rural St. Andrew has been facing criticisms, over his decision not to give hand outs but to use the CDF allocation programmes, which he says would benefit his constituency in the longer term. NDM Chairman Peter Townsend believes Crawford’s decision is a first step to begin the reversal of what he describes as a cancerous traditional political culture. He noted that Crawford’s proposal is consistent with how the NDM has always intended to use the CDF. He said while such a proposal will have its challenges it should be supported nationally, as it could be seen as the first step to dismantling the hand out mentally, which has enabled corruption and the formation of garrisons. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
