Mobile users complain about voicemail charges

2012-09-14 10:41:27 | (0 Comments)

A consumer rights group is raising concern about the ability of mobile telecommunications companies to handle call volumes noting that customers are losing money.

The Consumer Advisory Committee on Utilities (CACU) said mobile customers have complained about the frequency with which calls are being routed to the voice mail system because of increased traffic on both networks.

The CACU said the customers complain that their call credit is being eaten up on these calls especially since the recent introduction of per minute billing by Digicel.

The advocacy group said it has written to the two mobile telecommunications companies seeking clarification regarding their billing practices for calls routed to voicemail messaging systems.

The CACU said after receiving the responses, the information will be reviewed and its findings and recommendations published.
