The Opposition Jamaica Labour Party is expressing alarm at the murder of retired SSP Anthony ‘Tony’ Hewitt.

The Opposition Spokesman on National Security & Justice, Delroy Chuck, said Hewitt gave stellar service to the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the people of this country.

Chuck also said Hewitt’s contribution to crime fighting over the years, especially as head of the Police Flying Squad was invaluable.

He is imploring the police to be thorough in their investigation.

Chuck is also asking members of the public who may have information that could assist the police in their investigations to come forward.

Yesterday, the National Security Minister Peter Bunting urged the security forces to act swiftly in their probe into the shooting of Hewitt.

Bunting said the perpetrators should be hunted and he is also asking anyone with information on the incident to help the police.

Hewitt was shot four times while visiting his son at an apartment on Donmair Avenue off Red Hills Road, St. Andrew yesterday afternoon.
