Pregnant woman’s death sparks Portland protest

Angry residents this morning protested in front of the Port Antonio hospital, following the death of an eight month pregnant woman on Sunday during an operation at the facility.

The residents converged near the hospital’s administrative office from as early as 7 o’clock this morning.

They alleged that Nickeisha Dunkley was operated on despite a number of complications including hypertension.

They believe the improper procedure was followed by a surgeon at the hospital.

In the meantime, administrators at the Port Antonio hospital, who held an emergency meeting earlier today, have promised a thorough investigation into the incident.

However, the administrators have also dismissed allegation made by protesting residents that family members did not sign any documents authorising the operation.
