The man whose shooting by the police on September 9 is said to have sparked the suspected reprisal murder of ex-cop Anthony Hewitt is to face an identification parade today.

The man’s lawyer Peter Champagnie said his client was interviewed at hospital shortly after the shooting and again at the Constant Spring police station after his release from hospital, however he was never arrested.

He is now apprehensive about the likely integrity of the ID parade given that his client has already been exposed.

The police say the man was shot because during a police operation in Donmair almost two weeks ago, he pointed a gun at them.

But the man claims that he was shot while coming out of his yard to attend a dance.

The request for an ID parade comes days after the man reported the shooting incident to the Independent Commission of Investigations.
