St Elizabeth woman killed, husband injured in gun attack

2012-09-23 20:02:38 | (0 Comments)

A St Elizabeth woman is dead and her husband hospitalised in serious condition following an attack by gunmen at their home in Ballards Valley in the parish last night.

Dead is 41-year-old Hopey Powell, known to many residents as “Lolette”, a higgler of Bloomfield Town in Ballards Valley.

The Constabulary Communication Network reports that the couple arrived at home about about 10:30 last night when they were attacked by two armed men who demanded money.

When their demands were not met, the gunmen opened fire on the couple before robbing them of an undetermined sum of money. The men then escaped.

The couple was taken to hospital where Powell succumbed to her injuries and her husband admitted in serious but stable condition.

The Junction police are investigating.
