The police have identified the teenager killed in a crash along Half Way Tree Road in St. Andrew yesterday afternoon as Mellisa Thompson.

She is an 18-year-old of Queen’s Way in Willowdene, St. Catherine.

She was among six persons, who were mowed down by a bus as they walked along Half Way Tree Road.

The five others were injured and taken to hospital.

The police say the Toyota coaster bus was travelling towards Cross Roads from Half Way Tree about 5.30 p.m., when the crash occurred.

It is reported that the driver of the bus veered off the road and onto the sidewalk to avoid colliding with a vehicle which was in front of it.

The driver fled the scene after the crash and up to late last night the police said they had not yet located him.
