Alleged internet hacker for court today

2012-09-25 09:09:11 | (0 Comments)

Ronald Oates, the man believed to be the mastermind of a computer hacking extortion ring, is expected to appear in court today on an additional charge.

The additional charge was laid against Oates under the Cyber Crimes Act and the Larceny Act last week, days after he was granted bail.

The development took place after another complainant came forward as the police continued to probe the matter.

The police reported in August that as many as 25 persons had filed complaints against Oates.

Oates is accused of extorting money from persons wishing to avoid having stolen explicit photos of them placed on the Jamaican Girls Exposed website.

He was arrested on August 27 following months of investigation.
