The traffic police are now searching for the owner of the bus, which was involved in a fatal crash along Half-Way Tree Road in St. Andrew yesterday evening.

Eighteen-year-old Mellissa Thompson died in the crash, while five other persons were also injured.

Head of the Traffic Division Senior Superintendent, Radcliffe Lewis, said the driver, who fled the scene, has still not been found.

However, he said the owner of the bus is also being sought for questioning.

SSP Lewis said the investigation so far has revealed that the man, who was employed to drive the bus was not the one in the driver’s seat at the time of the crash.

He said investigators also want to question the conductor as they try to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.

According to SSP Lewis, preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the bus veered off the road to avoid colliding with a vehicle which was in front of it.
