Four men are now in custody after the police found an illegal firearm and ammunition in the vehicle in which they were travelling on Retirement road, in Kingston this morning.

The police said the men’s identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports are that about 3.40 a.m., police personnel were on patrol in the area, when the driver of a Mercedes Benz, with five men aboard, was signaled to stop.

The police said the driver complied and the vehicle was searched in which the weapon and ammunition were discovered.

One of the men ran and the remaining four were taken into custody.

The police said during the search, a Taurus 9 mm pistol with ten 9 mm and one .38 cartridges were seized.
