NewsSex offenders’ registry coming2012-09-26 12:23:22 | (0 Comments)
Justice Minister Senator Mark Golding says he expects the Sex Offenders’ Registry to become operational shortly.
He said a final review of the regulations to guide the registry was done last week. Senator Golding says the final additions to the document have been submitted to the Chief Parliamentary Counsel and he is expecting to get feedback within two weeks. The Sexual Offences Act, which was signed into law on October 20, 2009 makes provisions for a Sex Offenders’ Registry. Under the Act, a man who is found guilty of raping a woman, as well as any person who commits a grievous sexual assault or aids and abets a grievous sexual assault can face a sentence of life imprisonment. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
