A 63-year-old man, believed to be the grand uncle of an 11-year-old St Ann girl who has been impregnated, remains in custody and could be charged by the St Ann police.

He could be charged with having sex with a child under the age of 16 years.

Commandant for the St Ann police, Superintendent Dudley Scott, told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre this afternoon that the man was yet to be charged following investigations.

His name has not been released but the police say he will appear in court in a matter of days.

Meanwhile, the child remains in the St Ann’s Bay hospital after being admitted there on Monday, after complaining of severe pains.

She was taken to the Claremont clinic where it was discovered that she was three to four months pregnant.
