2012-09-28 18:19:12 | (0 Comments)

Jamaicans turned out in downtown Kingston; Half Way Tree, St Andrew; and Montego Bay, St James Friday to protest against recent incidents of sexual violence against women and children.

The organised action came four days after five females including an eight-year-old were raped in Irwin, St James.

In another incident an 11-yearold was hospitalised after allegedly being impregnated by her grand uncle.

Addressing the gathering in downtown Kingston, Youth Minister Lisa Hanna disclosed that in addition to those cases, earlier this week several girls returning to a Children’s Home from school were also raped.
