Illegal firearm, ammunition seized in Trelawny and St Ann

An illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized by the police in separate incidents in Trelawny and St Ann yesterday.

The Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) says one man was taken into custody in connection with the firearm.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

CCN reports that shortly after 11 o’clock a police team carried out an operation in Troy district when a box containing 36 assorted rounds of ammunition was found on premises in the area.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.

In the second incident, CCN says the Claremont Police were called to the scene of a robbery where the firearm was seized and the man taken into custody.
