UPDATE: Motorists freed from Bog Walk Gorge

2012-09-30 21:34:04 | (0 Comments)

Motorists who were trapped in the Bog Walk Gorge, St Catherine have been freed after more than two hours.

Scores of cars were trapped because of a disabled vehicle in Dam Head near Angels.

The line of vehicles had spanned hundreds of metres heading pass Flat Bridge.

“We are out!” tweeted media practitioner Carlette DeLeon who was among those trapped.

“Thanks everyone for thoughts & prayers,” she added.

DeLeon was trapped in the Gorge from 6:55 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

Another motorist expressed relief as she exited, but said it was still a dangerous path out especially for small vehicles because of landslides and boulders.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management has since issued an advisory that the Gorge is closed.

Motorists advised to use the alternative routes though Barry or Sligoville.
