The highly-anticipated trial of Carlos Hill, the former head of the failed investment scheme Cash Plus, failed to get underway in the Home Circuit Court this morning.

Hill appeared in the Home Circuit Court on the charge of fraudulently inducing persons to invest in a ponzi scheme.

However the matter could not proceed because one of his attorneys, Valerie Neita Robertson, is now appearing in a murder case on behalf of another client.

Hill has been granted an extension of his $15-million bond until March 4 next year when the matter will again be called up.

Carlos Hill, his brother Bertram, and Peter Wilson, the former chief financial officer of Cash Plus, are before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on other charges related to the Cash Plus collapse.

They are charged with obtaining money by false pretence, conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent conversion.

The three men were charged in April 2008.
