A team of guidance counsellors from the Ministry of Education this morning visited the Old Harbour High School in St. Catherine, following Friday’s killing of a teacher along the Gutter’s Main road.

Forty-one year-old Michael Melbourne was stabbed to death by a mob on Friday afternoon, after he reportedly hit several pedestrians, who were assisting a victim of a hit and run.

Principal of the school, Lynton Weir, said the gruesome killing of the computer science teacher has taken a toll on everyone at the institution.

He said Melbourne, who was also the head of the Information Technology Department taught at the school for 12 year.

Weir said during a conversation with Melbourne last week, the teacher requested the principal’s approval for a loan to finance his children’s education.
