CMC - West Indies clinched a spot in the final four of the World Twenty20 Championship after defending champions England lost to Sri Lanka in the second match of the doubleheader on Monday.

Facing a must-win situation after starting the day third in their group, the Caribbean beat New Zealand in dramatic circumstances courtesy of the Super Over, but were then forced to wait anxiously on the outcome of the England/Sri Lanka fixture.

England, who were second in the group, went down to unbeaten Sri Lanka by 19 runs to slip to third and out of contention for a semi-final berth.

Sri Lanka had already qualified for the penultimate phase of the competition.
