The National Works Agency (NWA) says several roads in St Thomas, Portland, St Catherine, St Ann and St Andrew remain impassable as a result of the heavy rains over the weekend.

The works agency says the Fern Gully main road in St Ann is among those which remain closed.

NWA Communications Manager, Stephen Shaw, says teams are working on making the corridors accessible to vehicular traffic as soon as possible.

In East Rural St Andrew, Member of Parliament, Damion Crawford says six tractors are currently in the affected communities helping to clear blocked roads.

"So far I have received reports of 13 blocked roads, eight marooned communities, multiple landslides and floodings and I want to assure everyone having difficulties in these communities that I have been working around the clock along with the various agencies to ensure that normalcy returns as soon as possible," Crawford said.
