Disability group welcomes ratification of UN Convention

The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities has welcomed the decision of the Roosevelt Skerrit administration to formally ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Person Living with Disabilities.

President of the Association, Erma Joseph, said the group is ready to work in consultation and partnership with government to ensure that the Convention is effectively undertaken.

The purpose of the present Convention is to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities.

The government ratified the Convention on Monday.
