Consultations to begin on number portability

Consultations on the implementation of number portability are scheduled to begin next week.

Number portability allows consumers to retain their telephone numbers after switching service providers.

Speaking at this morning’s Jamaica House Press Briefing, Energy Minister Phillip Paulwell, reiterated his ministry’s commitment to implementing number portability this year:

The implementation of number portability was made possible with the passage of amendments to the Telecommunications Act earlier this year.
