The country is to be given an update on the government’s talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today.

The finance ministry has organised a wrap-up press conference for 10 o’clock this morning at its Heroes Circle offices.

An IMF team has been in Jamaica since September 24, conducting negotiations for a new agreement with Jamaica.

While here, the team has met with government representatives as well as private sector interests.

The Government has indicated that it will be pursuing a three-year medium-term agreement instead of another standby loan facility.

A medium term programme would allow for a longer repayment time.

The government is seeking to have an agreement with the Fund before year end.
