The Windies, winning the toss and batting first, made 205-4 off their allotted 20 overs with Chris Gayle, 75 not, out leading the scoring. The Aussies in reply had a rocky start and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. At one stage they were 43-4. George Bailey was the mainstay for Australia as he hammered 63 runs from 29 balls but that would not be enough to save his team.
