NewsG2K renews call for freeze on hiring of Gov’t consultants2012-10-08 09:05:05 | (0 Comments)
Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional arm of the Jamaica Labour Party is renewing calls for Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller to name all consultants, and advisors the government has hired since it took office.
G2K said the call comes amid information that millions of dollars are being paid to these persons. According to the organisation, a number of these consultants are working without clear job descriptions and are receiving benefits in contravention of government guidelines. G2K said it is also concerned about the compensation package to these persons in light of the country’s financial constraints. The organisation said it has written to the prime minister asking among other things, how many consultants and advisors have been hired since January, the total sums being paid to these individuals and what system is used to assess their performance. G2K is calling for a freeze on the hiring of consultants until full disclosure is made and a review of the positions is undertaken. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
