Barbara Gayle, Justice Coordinator

The murder trial of 24-year-old policeman Rushon Hamilton continued today with a police officer testifying that another policeman was taken into custody in connection with the sexual assault on the 14-year-old girl.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Alden Davis made the disclosure while being crossed-examined today.

DSP Davis further disclosed that the policeman was later released because investigators did not find anything to hold him culpable.

And he denied the suggestion that he was removed from the case because Hamilton made a complaint that he was biased against him.

Today, the defence recalled the witness who had testified last week that Hamilton confessed in a cell that he shot 14-year-old Jhaneel Goulbourne and dumped the body at sea.

The witness said that he had given a statement to the police that Hamilton said he and some men went for the girl but the policeman had covered up his face.

The trial continues tomorrow in the Home Circuit Court before Justice Lloyd Hibbert and the 12-member jury.
