Cops search for Manchester rape suspect

2012-10-09 11:04:46 | (0 Comments)

Dave Lindo, Gleaner Writer

The Manchester police are now on the hunt for a suspect involved in the rape of a 16-year-old girl in Downs district on Sunday night.

The police said the girl was on her way home with a male relative when she was held up by a man at gunpoint, dragged into bushes and raped.

The male relative was not harmed.

Head of the Manchester Police, Lascelles Taylor, has confirmed the incident.

He said the police have received information on the suspect and are presently in pursuit of him.

This is the second case of rape in the parish in less than a week.

Last Thursday, a 12-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a man said to be her godfather.

That man was questioned by the police yesterday and is scheduled to be charged.
