Jamaica’s batsmen Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels are scheduled to arrive home today after helping the West Indies to win the 2012 World Twenty20 tournament in Sri Lanka on Sunday.
The players are scheduled to arrive at 3.15 p.m. The West Indies defeated host nation Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Samuels led the way with a classy 78 off 56 balls. The duo will be greeted by Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller, President of the Jamaica Cricket Association, Lyndel Wright and vice president of the West Indies Cricket Board Dave Cameron. Minister with responsibility for Sports, Natalie Neita-Headley will also welcome the players. Meanwhile, Gayle and Samuels were named in the International Cricket Council's (ICC), team of the World Twenty20 tournament. A five-member ICC panel selected Gayle and Samuels along with three Sri Lankan players and two Australians in the 11-man team.
