With the number of dengue cases surpassing that reported for all of last year, the Health Minister has called a special press conference to address the nation on the situation.

Up to September 22, the health ministry reported that there had been 974 suspected cases of dengue fever.

This compares with the 887 for all of 2011.

And there have been three suspected deaths associated with dengue fever but only one has been confirmed by the health ministry.

Health minister Dr. Fenton Ferguson says he will be updating the nation on the current dengue situation as well as vector control and other mitigation activities being undertaken by his ministry.

The press conference is slated to begin at 10 0’clock tomorrow morning at the health ministry’s head offices.
