Cops probe Havendale shooting

2012-10-11 08:54:54 | (0 Comments)

Up to late last night investigators from the St. Andrew North Police division were probing the circumstances under which a woman was injured, after a car was allegedly shot up by members of the security forces.

The shooting took place shortly after 7 o’clock at the intersection of Red Hills Road and Havendale Drive.

Sources say about four persons were travelling in the motor car, when bullets from the lawmen’s gun hit the car instead of a bus they were targeting.

Eyewitnesses allege that the shooting was done by two soldiers, who were travelling with a police team that was chasing a minibus.

One eyewitness questioned why the lawmen would open fire at such a crowded place.

Police personnel on the scene refused to comment on the matter noting that investigations are being conducted.

Head of The St. Andrew Central Police Division, Senior Superintendent Everal Linton could not be reached for comment as calls to his cell phones went unanswered.
