Man beheads grandmother in Westmoreland

A 19-year-old man identified as Kevin Turner is now in police custody for killing his grandmother by cutting off her head.

The incident happened in Whithorn, Westmoreland this morning.

The police say they were called to the scene sometime after 4 o’clock, after the accused reported to his brother that he had just killed their grandmother.

The police say based on information they received, Turner was taken to the doctor yesterday to be treated for a mental condition.

It is understood that he has been plagued with mental issues following the death of his father several days ago.

The police also say his grandmother who was overseas, returned to the island recently to make arrangements for her son’s funeral.
